A break-resistant plastic cover catches the food, and the cover's clarity lets you watch the food pile up and pass the graduation markings on the cover at every quarter cup: 1/4 (59ml), 1/2 (118ml), 3/4 (175ml) and 1 (236ml). Above the 1-cup mark is an additional 1/2-cup capacity (or 1-1/2 cup total capacity). Block out dust from the Cube Grater by keeping it closed when not in use. The Cube Grater is safe in the dishwasher on the top rack, but the cover should be washed by hand. Right after each use, rinse the Cube Grater in warm water. Remove bits of food from the non-cutting side of the grating surfaces.
