2006 International Restaurant & Foodservice Show Of New York


Events Schedule March 5th -7th


“We have added several new features to the 2006 event, and we are confident that foodservice professionals who have attended this event in the past will be thrilled with all of the new and exciting areas that will give them fresh ideas to bring back to their businesses,” explained Ron Mathews, Event Director for Reed Exhibitions, producers of the Show. “From new food product tasting areas to cooking demonstrations, International tasting to CIA courses, we will have something for everyone.”

• 17th Annual U.S. Pastry Competition: Carnival Around the World is the theme as the nation’s leading pastry professionals compete for the coveted title, “Pastry Chef of the Year.” Eighteen pastry chefs will display their talent and skills by creating advanced level desserts and highly technical chocolate and sugar sculpted showpieces. Join us for the awards ceremony, Sunday, March 5 at 4:00 pm.

• Book Signing: Ted Allen, food and wine connoisseur from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy will sign his new book The Food You Want to Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes on Sunday, March 5 at 1:00 p.m.

• Chain & Multi Unit Operator Summit: A blueprint for success for multi-unit and chain operators packed with information and insight on how to run, operate and grow a successful chain concept. Register in advance.

• NYSRA Educational Foundation Awards: On Monday, March 6th, Daniel Boulud, chef/owner of Cafe Boulud, DB Bistro Moderne, and Daniel Boulud Brasserie will receive the prestigious TY Award from the NYSRA’s Educational Foundation. The Foundation will also honor Nation’s Restaurant News with the Industry Partner Award. This event will take place at the Marriott Marquis.

• New York Farm Fresh Pavilion: This featured area on the Show floor highlights New York farm products and award-winning wines. Sample dozens of agricultural products from across the State that can add intrigue to your menu and positively affect your bottom line.

• International Tasting Arena and Hispanic Foods Expo: This is a separate and unique exhibit area on the Show floor for customers seeking out ethnic food and beverages. The Arena will host products from around the world to enhance a restaurants menu from places like Mexico, El Salvador and Italy. Explore and sample items from around the globe.

• New Product Showcase and Tasting Arena: Discover the hottest new foods and beverages to hit the market and sample and assess their flavors. Visit the arena between 2:00 - 3:30pm on Sunday, March 5 and Monday, March 6 to taste and vote for the best new products. Don’t miss the People’s Choice Awards Announcement on Tuesday at 2:00 pm!

• New Restaurant Start-Up Symposium: Restaurant Rookie Boot Camp for new restaurant owners and entrepreneurs. A jam-packed day of learning covering all areas of the restaurant business form human resources to menu analysis & procurement. Register in advance.

• New York City Nightlife Corner: The exhibit area, sponsored by the NY Nightlife Association, will focus on the dynamic nightlife scene NYC is known. Sample dozens of specialty beers, ales, wine and spirits. The Nightlife Expo will feature Ice Machines, Wine, Spirits, Beer, Glassware, Beverage Dispensing Equipment, Audio Visual and Sound Systems Equipment, Bar Equipment & Supplies, Mixers, Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Design and Décor, Electronic Equipment, Bars, Furniture, and POS Systems.

• Super Star Culinary Demonstrations: Catch inspiration from some of New York’s finest chefs. Learn their secrets and special techniques as they prepare their specialty dishes at the Culinary Theater on the Show floor.

• Sports & Celebrity Memorabilia for a Cause: Stop by Grandstand Sports, Booth #3670 and check out the sports & celebrity charitable memorabilia auction. Proceeds will benefit the New York State Restaurant Association’s Educational Foundation. A celebrity athlete will sign autographs for free, check the Show website for details.

• Demonstration Cooking Theaters: A new feature on the Show floor that will offer presentations of new cooking styles, techniques, ethnic foods, trends, new products and celebrity chef appearances.
