2006 International Restaurant & Foodservice Show Of New York

The table is set for a feast of opportunities at the 13th annual International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York. Thousands of industry professionals are expected to demo, touch, taste, smell, compare and source all the latest products and services required to run a successful foodservice business. The Show will be held March 5-7, 2006 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

In addition to hundreds of new products from more than 600 exhibiting companies, the Show will also play host to The 17th Annual U.S. Pastry Competition, where 18 of the nation’s leading pastry chefs will compete for the coveted title, “Pastry Chef of the Year.” This year’s theme is Carnival Around the World. New York’s Finest Culinary Chefs will also have the opportunity to share their secrets and showcase their special techniques in the Super Star Culinary Demonstrations Theater, sponsored by the Vatel Club. In the New York City Nightlife Corner attendees will sample dozens of specialty beers, ales and wines; and an assortment of New York’s farm products and award-winning wines will be featured in the New York Farm Fresh Pavilion.

The 2006 Show will also host several new and exciting special events including a New Product and Tasting Arena; an International Tasting Arena featuring the Hispanic Foods Expo; Demonstration Cooking Theaters; and Bartending and Mixology Demonstrations. In addition, Ted Allen, food and wine connoisseur of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy will sign his new book The Food You Want to Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes.

The International Restaurant & Foodservice Show offers more than 25 educational courses. New for this year, the BarFly Group will host two full day fee-based courses: the Restaurant Rookie Boot Camp and Multi-Unit Blueprint. Back by popular demand, The Culinary Institute of America will offer four courses at the Show. Attendees will be able to earn .25 continuing education credits per course for these exciting CIA seminars. And, there are almost 20 free seminars sponsored and organized by the New York State Restaurant Association (NYSRA).

On Monday, March 6th, Daniel Boulud, chef/owner of Cafe Boulud, DB Bistro Moderne, and Daniel Boulud Brasserie will receive the prestigious TY Award from the NYSRA’s Educational Foundation. The Foundation will also honor Nation’s Restaurant News with the Industry Partner Award. This event will take place at the Marriott Marquis.
